Weekend Wrap

It was a pretty low-key week/weekend for us as Mommy Susie battled pneumonia all week/weekend.  Friday night Grandma McNamara and I took the kids to Menomonie to pick up some toy tractors, it was eventful.  Tommy puked on the way there, Grandma doesn't like puke.  We stopped and I tried to mop him and his car seat up as best I could with wipes; lucky most of it was on his jacket so I just removed it.  I was hoping he could recover and go in and pick out a tractor because he was so excited.  He seemed to be doing better but just as we are pulling into the driveway more puke and lots of it.  So I had to strip him down to his diaper.  He rode home in a diaper and Maggie’s sweatshirt.  The good news is Maggie and grandma got a couple tractors for him.  Let’s just summarize Friday night as a lot of crying, all three took turns.  Teddy cried because he wanted to be held and not be in his car seat.  Maggie was upset once I had to break it to her that we couldn't go inside at McDonald's and eat because her brother was sick and didn't have any clothes on.  And Tommy cried because he couldn't go in and look at the tractors. 

Saturday we had our neighbor, Sidney’s 5^th birthday party.  The kids had a blast.  There was a massive bounce house and lots of kids to play with.  Sunday I took the kids out to the farm.  Tommy and Maggie both had a blast.  Maggie enjoyed hunting for the new kitties and playing house with her cousins.  Tommy finally got to hang with the older boys outside on the tractors.  Those 3 little boys will follow grandpa anywhere and they are never short on questions.  Grandpa is very patient with them.  All 3 of them chase Grandpa around like he is a superhero.

Theodore

Teddy is not a Theodore officially but it doesn't stop Susie and I from calling him that.  We also like to call him Tedward a lot.  It is starting to grow on me.  I think Tedward should be a real name.  :)  We also call him La-La a lot because it makes him coo and he tries to say it back to us.  If you look him in the eyes and call him La-La he smiles so big. We also call him Toots MaCoots or Poops MaCoots depending on the occasion.  Maggie really likes to call him Toots MaCoots and it sounds so cute when she says it.  I also call him my little racoon, coon-burger, or if he is smiley coon-burger with cheese.  The other good news is he seems to like Teddy a lot too.  :)

Tommy's Big Boy Bed

I really feel like we out smarted a 2 year old here and boy does it feel good!  Tommy has spent maybe a max of 30 nights in his crib since he was born.  He has always slept with one or both mommies since he came home from the hospital.  And in all honesty it never bothered us because he would fall asleep instantly and sleep like a rock all night.  But lately he would toss and turn, sleep upside down, sleep on mommy Susie’s head, etc.  So we made the brave decision to convert his crib into a full size bed.  So for his birthday he got new “bulldozer” bedding.  He has slept in there every night since we converted it, I would guess about 2 weeks now.  Susie still lays with him for about 10 minutes as he falls asleep but the beauty of laying with him in his bed is we can get up and leave.  He looks so little in his big boy bed but has been sleeping great!  He wakes up all smiles.  Maybe it’s not perfect parenting but Susie and I really feel like we won on this one!

Mid October Happenings

I can’t believe we are halfway through October already.  Where is the time going?  We have been busy and winter will be here before we know it.  We have been spending lots of quality time together and we celebrated mommy Susie’s 35^th birthday!  Here’s our month so far in photos:

This week was safety week and they had to swim with t-shirts on to simulate how hard it is to swim with clothes on if you fell in.  They also couldn't wear their goggles since you wouldn't have them on if you fell in a lake or pool unexpectedly--this was the hardest part for Maggie.  I didn't realize how dependent she has become on them.

I had to take Maggie to the doctor.  She has been complaining that her lower back hurts near her spine.  The doctor couldn't find anything serious.  We are going to watch it for another week.

Teddy is 3 Months!

Teddy turned 3 months on October 4^th.  He is growing and changing like crazy.  Slowly but surely he is losing his thick head of newborn hair.  He is starting to get chunky little thighs and squeezable cheeks.  He is starting to coo a lot more.  It is the sweetest little sound.  He is still sleeping with me for the most part but sleeps very well.  His eating and sleeping habits are getting really consistent just in time for me to go back to work next week.  :(  Teddy and I love our days together.  There is usually a morning jog, a bath, lots of eating and lots of cuddling.  Happy 3 months little man!
