Happy 31st Birthday Mama!

Mama turned 31 on Tuesday!  (Mommy's still 30 ... she told me to type that)  Despite my not feeling well, we still did manage to have a great day.  The Sunday before Mama's birthday, we were planning to go out on the lake, so Mommy let Mama open a few of her presents from Mamma and Papa.  They got her a tube for the boat, a rope for the tube and a pump so the tube won't take up too much room in the boat.  After helping Mama open those gifts on Sunday, Mommies discovered that I really enjoy opening gifts, so I had lots of fun on Tuesday what Mama opened the rest of her presents!  Happy Birthday, Mama!  I love you!

Helping Mama with her first gift on Sunday morning!

Wow!  This is fun!!  (I don't even care what's underneath the paper!)  :)

Where's the baby?

Before Mama got home from work on Tuesday, I helped Mommy make her favorite - Dirt & Worms!  (I crushed the Oreos for her!)

Using my mouth to help Mama open her card.

Looking skeptical.  Must be a lame gift ... probably socks or something!

Not My Best Week...

While I did have some highlights this week, overall, this week kind of stunk.  On Saturday night Mommy thought I felt really hot, so she took my temperature.  It was 102.  She was really nervous and kept a close eye on me for the next 24 hours.  By the time I went to bed on Sunday night, it was 103, so she decided to call the doctor first thing Monday morning.  The doctor had us come in and I was diagnosed with my first ear infection.  I was prescribed amoxicillin, and Mommies started giving it to me right away.  I still wasn't feeling well Monday night, but I seemed to be doing a little better by Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, we went out to dinner for Mama's birthday.  As soon as we got home, Mommy noticed I had a rash on my head and my neck.  In about 10 minutes, that rash had spread to most of my body.  Mommy called the on-call doctor, and she told her it's probably amoxicillin rash, and that they should stop giving me the amoxicillin and give me some benedryl, then call my doctor in the morning.  After talking to my doctor, they switched my prescription to another antibiotic, and I seem to be doing much better.  After several nights of sleeping on Mommy, I slept in my crib for my normal 12 hours both Wednesday and Thursday nights, so Mommies think I'm on the road to recovery.

Here are some pics of the rash as well as some pics Mama took of me once I was feeling a little better last night!

This is where the rash started.  On my neck/back of my head.  (right by the infected ear)  The really dark spot in the back isn't rash - it's my stork bite!

On our drive home from dinner, Mommy started to notice this rash forming around my right eye.

The rash also spread to my belly and below my diaper.  (Mommy says these pictures don't do any justice as to what it looked like in person)

Feeling better on Thursday night.  Playing in my pj's with my penguin!

I LOVE my feet!

So happy to be feeling better!

Relaxing in the Boppy before bed with Sophie and my teethers!

Standing! (With Assistance)

This week, Mama thought we should work a little on my standing, so she propped me up on my music table to see if I could do it.  Turns out I can!!  I love my table from this viewpoint - I can reach everything!  I still can't pull myself up on my own, but I'm sure that's not far behind...

Eating the book on my music table...

Mommies!  Look at me!!

My First Week as a Six Month Old!

Well, I've only been 6 months old for one week, but it's been a very eventful week in my development.  On Saturday I got my first tooth.  On Wednesday, I got my second one!  I tried three new foods this week - sweet potatoes, butternut squash and carrots.  (carrots seem to be my favorite for now)  And I went from not being able to sit on my own at all to sitting up unassisted for extremely long periods of time.  (at least 30 minutes this morning!)  And while I sit, I can bring things to my mouth and reach for toys.  Mommies are blown away - I seem to have grown up practically overnight!  Here are a few pictures of what I've been up to this week!

Playing with my music table!  The book in the middle is my favorite.

Waiting for my friends to come over.  Showing mommies more of my sitting skills.

I love Mommy!  (she typed that part)  :)

Aftin and I showing off our buns for the camera.

Lounging with Aftin.

Having fun in my Minnie Mouse onesie from Aunt Jessie!

Sitting Pretty!

Mommies have been working on my sitting lately, and it's coming along really well!  They used Aunt Jessie's advice and started letting me sit on the floor between the Boppy pillow in case I fall, and that's worked out great!  I can sit on my own now for short periods of time.  (~1 minute or so)  Mommy even got brave enough yesterday to take the Boppy away from me and snap some shots of me sitting on the floor completely unassisted!  This might be one of my favorite tricks so far!

Last night I was so tired from all of that sitting that I fell asleep on my tummy time mat!

Mmmm... Sweet Potatoes!

My doctor gave mommies the green light to start introducing some foods into my diet beyond just the rice cereal.  Mommies have been so excited to give me real food!  Mommy is making my food for now.  She made the sweet potatoes I had last night and also made butternut squash, which they're going to let me try in a few days.  So far I've had food twice (last night and this morning) and I think it's great!  Can't wait to try all sorts of different foods!

Patiently waiting for my first bite!

First taste!

This is different than rice cereal ... much sweeter!

I like it!

All done!

6 Month Well Baby Check!

Yesterday I had my 6 month check up, and everything looks great!  I was being really goofy during the entire appointment - wiggling around, smiling, and drooling.  Overall, the appointment was fine except for the shots.  I only had to have three this time, but I screamed!!  Thankfully no more shots until my 12 month check up!  Here are my stats:

Weight:  17lb, 15oz  (85th percentile)
Height:  26 in (60th percentile)
Head:  50th percentile

Dr. Montague checking out my ears.  I wonder if she can see my big, smart brain in there??

Shot time.  I HATE this part!

Not happy.

I'm a 6 Month Old!

Last Friday I turned 6 months old!  Mommies can't believe how quickly the time has flown!  They're also amazed by how much I change month to month, week to week and even day to day.  Below is a list of a few of the things I do now at 6 months old, and also some pictures of me enjoying my 6 month birthday gift - TEETHERS!
  • I roll over tummy to back and back to tummy.
  • I'm almost sitting on my own - not quite there yet.
  • I sleep 12+ hours each night - in my crib!
  • I generally take 2 to 3 naps each day.  (each lasting about 45 mins to an hour)
  • I'm finally starting to sprout some hair!
  • I eat rice cereal and just started on vegetables.
  • I giggle, smile and babble a LOT!
  • I'm teething like crazy - one tooth so far!  (My first tooth popped out when mommies were camping and I was staying with Grandma & Grandpa McNamara.  Aunt Jessie found it on Saturday, June 12th.)
  • My favorite toy is definitely still my jumper.
  • I LOVE my puppy, Joey!
  • I travel well!  So far I've been to Missouri twice, Arizona and Dodgeville, WI.
  • Overall, I'm a very happy, easy baby with a great temperment!

Not Just Another Rolling Video...

This one's a little different! I used to only roll tummy to back, now I roll both ways and I'm starting to use my rolling as a way to get things I want.

Mommies' Little Noise Maker!

I've become quite vocal lately, which my mommies think is hilarious! My two favorite noises are high pitched screeches and (for lack of a better term) fart noises. Mommy caught a few on video. You'll want to turn the volume up on this one!

Little Girl, BIG Personality!

Over the past few weeks, my personality has really started to shine.  From what my mommies can see, I'm going to be a VERY goofy little girl!  I smile all the time, and I love to giggle and play with my toys.  Here are a few pictures mommies took over the past few days....

Mommies would never describe me as "neat" eater.  :)

I didn't do it, I swear!

Now that I can roll, it's my favorite new trick!

If I can't be in my mommies' arms, this is my second favorite place to be!

Exhausted after a long day of playing.  Lately, mommies are lucky if I make it to 7PM before I pass out.
