359 Days!

Way to go Tommy!  359 days after you came into this world you spent your first full night ever in your crib!  You didn’t even wake once.  Mommies are so proud of you!  I am happy to report that Saturday night Tommy slept from 9 PM to 7 AM in his crib.  No waking up, no late night snacks—just good solid sleep in his own bed.  Night #2 is still going on right now, I hope.  You were sound asleep in your crib when I left at 3:30, hoping you are still sleeping right now as I type this.  :)   We still let him have his last bottle and fall asleep in our bed and then carry him to his crib; so not totally crib trained to the point where we can lay him down awake in there and he can self-soothe himself to bed, but we will take it!  And honestly, it is nice that there is no crying or feeling guilty, he just thinks he is going to bed with mommies like normal.  I always knew we would get there, I was just losing hope that it would be before his first birthday!  We are so proud of you, Thomas Jon!  Next up learning to walk in the next 5 days before your birthday!  :)

First morning ever waking up in your crib! So sleepy still.

I have to admit I missed having you next to me but I think we both slept much better.  It was the first night since giving birth to you that you were not either sleeping on me or next to me.

So proud of you!

Sicker than a Dog

Last week Tommy got horribly sick and ended up missing 4 days of school/daycare.  We will call it the flu but I am pretty sure he had everything that could possibly be going around.  He threw up pretty steady and then off and on for 4 days straight and then that turned into diarrhea, all while sporting a fever too.  Anyways, at first I didn’t think he was that bad or even sick.  On Tuesday daycare called Susie at work to tell her he had an “incident report”—another kid opened the door while Tommy was holding on to it standing up, anyhow he spilt his lip and top gum open and there was I quite a bit of blood.  Tuesday night after dinner he started throwing up.  So we didn’t take him to school on Wednesday and his teacher said it was probably just from all the blood he swallowed…I was hoping that was it but when the vomiting continued Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday I knew that wasn’t the case.  He ended up going to the emergency room late Thursday night for Zofran and fluids.

Anyways before I knew he was “really sick” I had taken him over to my parents…fast forward to grandpa throwing up for the first time in 20 years and all the Bostow kids getting some version of Tommy’s illness.  Tommy apologizes, it was a horrible virus.  I went to pick up the kids yesterday from daycare and found out Tommy’s favorite teacher, Ms. Shannon, is now also enjoying Tommy’s wonderful gift.   :)

He loved the chickens, even wanted to sample their food

"Oh hey nurses, do you think I am handsome?"

You would never had guessed he was sick when he had 3 nurses waiting on him.  He really turned on the charm, he loved all the attention.  The entire staff took great care of him.

Sleeping it off, in mommy's bed of course

Strong like Bull

Tommy boy is a little bull in training.  His nightly chore is to push his sister up and down the hall way over and over again.  Maggie’s job is to steer the train and Tommy’s job is to be the ox and do all the heavy pushing.  They both find equal joy in their roles.  This has been a nightly occurrence for the past 3 weeks.

Pictures are kind of blurry--they go pretty fast.

Relieved that he ditched all 34 pounds of Maggie

Labor Day at the Lake

We headed down to Grandma Morawitz's house on Lake of the Ozarks for Labor Day weekend.  The kids were unbelievably good for the 11 hour car ride, both ways.  It was hot and I mean hot—Missouri style.  We spent most of our time between the lake and the community pool.  It was a great time like always and it was so nice to spend time with the cousins on that side.  Maggie loved seeing Katie and all the boy cousins too.  We celebrated Charlie’s 4th birthday with a big pirate party complete with pirate ship ride on the lake.  Maggie is really into Jake and the Neverland Pirates TV show so this was right up her alley.  We shopped one day, rode jet skis, swam, ate delicious food, and Maggie helped grandma make cookies.  It was a wonderful extended weekend away from home.

We went and visited Papa

I think he would have been tickled to see Tommy standing and Maggie acting as silly as always.  Maggie adored her Papa and still talks about him all the time.

Eleven!

Tommy turned 11 months on August 27th.  He is becoming such a delight!  He has been difficult at times but he is getting to be more predictable (sleep and mood-wise).  He is also getting more and more adorable every day.  While I do think he is getting cuter each day, I think the thing that is making him cuter now is his developing personality.  He is a funny guy.  I can already tell he is going to challenge his mommies.  He has a naughty/sweet smirk and laughs when I tell him “no”.  He is trying so very hard to balance and walk.  He stands for a minute not holding on to anything and then looks at us, as if to say,  “what do I do next”.  He furniture surfs, pushes the Pooh train throughout the house and pulls himself up on everything and everyone.  He sleeps though the night, most  nights, still likes to eat at 3:30 a few times a week—and yes, he is still in our bed.  He loves strawberries, yogurt and mac & cheese.  He still adores his sister and both his mommies.  He looks and acts like a giant teddy bear.  His favorite place to be is outside.  He could be in the midst of a complete meltdown and the second he goes outside he stops.  He loves to go down the slide on his sister’s lap.  He squeals with delight in his baby bucket swing.  You are so cute, Tommy Jon!  We love you!

Oh and Tommy--we started calling you Tom Bomb!  :)  Maggie still has her baby voice and has trouble pronouncing some words, so she keeps calling you Tom-bon!  It is so cute.  She loves you so much!

The Never Ending Post

I am sure you are tired of Lake Superior pictures but Aunt Becky took a few of the kids that are too cute not to share!  I promise this is the last you will see of the Lake Superior trip....until next year!
